Antiques are stripped by hand, neutralized, and sanded. If there is water or heat damage this may be removed. Small scratches may be sanded out but some dint's and deep groves if removed may lower the value of the piece and may be difficult to remove if the piece is veneered. To sand out these minor imperfections would be removing the patina. If you have strong feelings about a scratch, a mark, a dent, please talk to us about it. Stain matching is the common choice, or you may select a new colour or perhaps change or replace some hardware.
Your project is first cleaned with mild soap Then it is sanded to prepare the piece for staining and coating or painting.
Chose a colour from your local paint store and we pick up the appropriate type of paint for your project. Refinishing wood to the existing colour is often the best option, but if you want a change in colour you may have to drop by the shop during the staining process to approve the finish.
Our paint projects completed in the shop are top-coated with a clear lacquer to give a lasting finish. Stained jobs are clear coated with finishes from dull to satin.
